Here I’m firing a S&W number 1 revolver. If you’re going to shoot these old guns I highly recommend that you use the old CB Cap ammunition. These cartridges have no gunpowder in the cases, and the priming compound actually propels the projectile itself. Modern .22 short ammunition does utilize a small charge of gunpowder which may spike pressures and stress these 150 year old revolvers — resulting in their destruction and possible injury to the shooter.
As usual, before firing any of these old guns you should have them thoroughly checked by a competent gunsmith.
